This wild jungle berry is one of the highest recorded sources of vitamin C (more than oranges or lemons, and higher than acerola fruit). The fruit contains natural rutin and bioflavanoids which can increase the effect of Vitamin C. Camu Camu Mega–C™ also contains nutrients such as iron, phosphorus, beta carotene, calcium, vitamin B1, B2 and B3, as well as a comprehensive complex of amino acids. This species grows abundantly in the wild. It can be found in swamps along rivers and lakes in Peru, Amazonian Brazil and Venezuela.
Our full flavored, dark Camu Camu Mega-C Colorado™ Red powder is derived from the whole Camu Camu berry. The berries are harvested at maturity and then puréed (skin and all). The purée is dehydrated in top quality, stainless dehydrators to produce the characteristic dark, reddish-brown powder. The flavor is often described as wild berry or orange-lemon. Camu Camu Mega-C Colorado™ Red powder is more tannic to taste compared to our Camu Camu Rosado™ Pink powder.
