What is Palo Santo?

Bursera graveolens, known in Spanish as Palo Santo (“holy stick”), is a wild tree native to Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. The tree belongs to the same family (Burseracea) as frankincense and  myrrh. When ignited Palo Santo gives a woodsy, fine citrus and wild vanilla aroma. When the wood is ground up to make powder is it regularly used in the production of incense

Palo Santo is a commonly used incense in ceremonies for South America People. Shamans and Healers have regarded this as a Holy Stick and is a main component in rituals of healing, smudging and for purifying purposes.
