Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia volubilis)

This plant has been known by Peruvian natives for several thousand years. It was even used by the Incas, according to the pottery artifacts discovered in their tombs.

Sacha Inchi is a wild jungle vine indigenous to the Peruvian Amazon Forest. Sacha Inchi seeds have an oil content of nearly 50%! The oil is extracted by simple cold pressing and does not require refining.

Environmental Advantages

Sacha Inchi is a forest crop and encourages reforestation of the Amazon. It has a faster and more positive impact on soils and farms than that of other oil producing plants. The harvest supports indigenous families. A fast growing, tropical forest crop, it quickly covers soils damaged from logging or pasturing of animals.
